Intention setting

”Live truthfully”

What does it mean to set an intention for the day?

Setting an intention not only helps you stay motivated and aligned with your true self, but will also make you more focused and commited to your goals. Furthermore, it sets a tone for the day ahead, and helps you get back on track in case you find yourself struggling to proceed with a task or take action in a certain matter.

You can set a specific intention that will change with each day, as well as have one or several more general intentions that follow you throughout the days, weeks and months.

One of my more general intentions is to live truthfully.

And what do I mean with that? To live truthfully.

In essence, I try to stay away from things, actions, behaviours, people, that do not align with who I am.

Give an example, please?

I try to speak as authentically as possible, towards others as well as towards myself. With this being said, I’m far from perfect, and I’m not striving to be. However, I will always strive to be the best I can be in any given moment. My best will change from day to day – some days everything seems to flow with an effortless ease, and other days nothing goes as planned. Nevertheless, I always try to bring forth that voice from deep inside – What would my most authentic, compassionate and honest self do?

Furthermore, to me living truthfully means to boldly speak up about the things important to you.

”To play small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.”

Marianne Williamson, A Return To Love

I truly believe each and every one of us has something unique to offer, something inate, deeply rooted within us. The thing per se might not be so unique, but it’s what we choose to do with it, and how we choose to do it, that is distinctive to us.

These powerful words by Williamson help me remind myself, day after day, to never dim my light.

”Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measures. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.”

Marianne Williamson, A Return To Love

For many years I’ve been struggling with showing my most vulnerable, authentic self. Nevertheless, it’s one of the most liberating things a human can do – to be completely at peace with being oneself. Not seeking outside validation, or constant reassurance from other people, but rather being acceptant with oneself.

One important thing to note; not all people are deserving of your most vulnerable self; unfortunately there are those who will try to take adavntage of your kindness and openness. Nevertheless, in many many cases people will thank you for being you, since it gives them space and an opportunity to be exactly who they are.

With this said, to live truthfully not only means to embrace one’s deepest desires and trusting one’s capabilities, but to give others space to do the same.
