You do not need to be fixed. All is well, my dear. Everything is exactly as it’s supposed to be. You’re fine. No, you’re more than fine; you’re perfect. The sun will rise again tomorrow. And you will too.
In a world where constantly striving to be the best version of ourselves has become the norm—even an obsession—be the one who stands firmly, grounded and at peace. Striving for perfection is like stepping onto a never-ending roller coaster. Trying to improve yourself 24/7 (yes, you are—you’re wearing that watch that tells you how poorly you slept), hoping to reach that higher, better, more aligned, more-at-peace, beautifully zen version of yourself.
Nothing outside of yourself will ever help you reach that if you’re constantly neglecting what’s within. How do you think you’ll hold on to that feeling of “finally, I’ve made it” if something inside you is screaming for your attention, but you just look away?
“No, I don’t want to listen. Instead, I will go there, do that, improve that, achieve that—anything that will make me feel whole.”
You know what? Another person, a better job, a fancier apartment won’t fix your aching heart.
Yes, I agree, all these material and worldly things are wonderful. They are beautiful decorations to an already peaceful life. But they will never bring you lasting peace if peace is missing from the inside.
It takes a toll on the body to be in this constant “I need to better myself” mode. Maybe you don’t need the 10-step routine on how to regulate your nervous system. Maybe you just need your own voice reassuring yourself that you’re okay. You are completely, utterly okay. And if you really need a change, start from there. Start from love, not fear. Start from within, start from you. Not because you’re watching someone else improve their life. The want needs to come from you.
You are not something to achieve. You are something to let come forth. Something to let bloom.
You don’t know what you want? Maybe if you started to live your own life, instead of watching other people live theirs, it would gracefully appear.
Listen.
And of course, you need to change things if you find yourself living a life that makes you suffer, both mentally and physically. But here, I’m talking about that never-ending dissatisfaction with yourself, whatever you do, whatever you achieve. You’re simply always miserable, despite whatever beautiful thing life gives you. Nothing will ever be enough if you do not feel whole from within.
Yes, life is uncertain. Unpredictable and absolutely wonderful at the same time. Your time is limited; don’t spend it being at war with yourself. Don’t spend it constantly needing to improve and prove yourself.
You do not need to be fixed. You just have to learn to befriend yourself. All is well, my dear. All is well.
