The importance of trusting oneself

”More faith than fear.” A key ingredient in this beautiful, yet unpredictable life is trusting oneself. As soon as you begin to trust yourself you’ll learn how to dance through life, while developing into a courageous and compassionate human being. Wherever you choose to go, begin to cultivate all these wonderful things that you are. When you start to put complete trust in yourself you’ll automatically become more confident in your own skin. What determines your worth? Think about it for a minute. Is it your looks? The amount of friends you have? Your income? Your job title? Where you were born? Your skin color? Or do you depend on other people, to make you feel valuable? Start by questioning your belief systems. Why do you have them, and where do they steam from? Be clear, and completely honest with yourself when answering these questions. Writing your thoughts down might make it easier to understand yourself as you read your words out loud. The goal is not to judge yourself, but to better yourself, and …

What 2019 taught me

”Embrace the unknown, for that is what will help you grow.”   With 2020 just around the corner it’s the most perfect time to put an afternoon aside, to brew yourself a big warm mug of coffee, and reflect over the past year, and the most important lessons you’ve learned.  I’m a firm believer in writing my intentions, goals and dreams down, preferably on a piece of paper. I guess I am more of a dreamer/planner than a doer. However, my intentions for 2019 was all about taking action and believing in myself and my abilities. Setting intentions not only makes it easier to stay focused, but it helps to keep the motivation up, as well as staying more grounded and closer to one’s core self. And while I strongly recommend all of you to start writing down your intentions, I also think it’s of great advantage to reflect over the past year, and therefore gain better clarity of the things you’ve learned thus far. As I was reading through my intentions for 2019 I noticed …

How to become the best version of yourself

I went through some old blog posts from 2019, and found this one – one which the readers clicked on the most. ”Be the sort of person you would admire.” You are a different person to different people. Annoying to some. Talented to another. Kind to a few. Unknown to a lot. But who are you, to you? What does the best version of yourself look like? Being the best version of yourself needs to start with you, it needs to come from within. Other people will always have expectations from you, however, only you decide who you truly are.  1. Take your power back   To change your life, you have to change yourself. To change yourself, you have to change your mindset. It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to, has power over you – if you allow it. Trust that you have what it takes, the power is found within you. You won’t become powerful through another person, getting a promotion or having excess money in your …

Self-care December

”We can never run out of love. It’s in the air we are breathing.” For most of us Christmas is a time of fellowship, joy and happiness. It’s a time when family get-togethers are more frequent, gifts and laughter are shared among loved ones, and eating a bit too much is part of the festivity. However, for a growing number of people the situation is completely different.  ”It’s Christmas time, there’s no need to be afraid. At Christmas time we let in light and we banish shade.” – Do they know it’s Christmas, Band Aid -84 The number of people, who live in poverty, suffer from addiction or loneliness, are increasing world-wide. A problem we simply cannot ignore, since its transparency in our society is getting more and more evident. The question remains – what can we do about it? How should, and can we address these problems? The answers might vary, of course, but I believe that each and every one of us have a responsibility – and that first tiny step you need …

Surrendering into the arms of the wild

”The courage of letting go. Surrendering into the arms of the wild.” As Eckhart Tolle so neatly puts it: ”Sometimes surrender means giving up from trying to understand, and becoming comfortable with not knowing.” Life is about finding the balance between what you can control, and what you cannot. Sometimes surrendering is the breakthrough you need. Let me tell you about a dream I had a couple of nights ago.  ♦I had this cute white labrador puppy, but wasn’t he a pain in the butt. It was a complete struggle every time I had to take him out for a walk. It was like he did anything to get out from that leash; he didn’t appreciate to be told what to do, and neither did he wish to be controlled. Every walk was a fight to win. And eventually the leash broke. The thing with which I tried to control my puppy ultimately fell apart.♦ I’m usually not one of those that decipher my dreams, but I felt this one had something to teach me. …

Be less judgmental

”It all starts with you.” No one in this world is pure and perfect, not even Nature. If you avoid people for their shortcomings, you will most certainly be alone in this world. So try to judge less, and love more. Surround yourself with people who understand. People who lift you up. We rise by lifting others.  People who aren’t quick to judge – those gems, exactly my cup of tea. You can vent to them, and labeling you will be the last thing on their mind. They do not believe rumors because they know there are two sides to every story. They give you a chance before they judge you. They get to know who you really are, then form an opinion. However, people are usually rather judgmental, towards themselves, others and situations, without even thinking about it. If you know that you’re a pretty judgemental person, try to challenge yourself to change your mindset. Little by little, watch how being less judgmental will create a more positive outcome; within both your inner and outer world. You will …

What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

”Darling I know, some things take insane bravery. But after that you’ll be free.”   Fear is always about the next moment, not about what is happening right now. Fear is something yet to be, or something that does not exist. The fear is simply existing because you’re not living with life, you’re living with your mind.  I’ve been thinking a lot about fear lately, and why it’s so common that we humans are so afraid of the unknown, afraid of taking risks and going after our dreams (at least I know I struggle with feelings like these more often than not, and I bet I’m not the only one). But the more I think about it, by letting fear take over we let our imagination run wild (in a negative sense). We focus on questions such as – what if I fail? And what if it works out, what then? These are questions that keep us stuck in our comfort zones, questions that prevent us from even trying. A question I like to ask …

Authenticity

”Thou may be kind, but that doesn’t make thou naive. Thou may be vulnerable, but that doesn’t make thou weak.”   Authentic: Not false or copied; genuine; real. Representing one’s true nature or beliefs; true to oneself or to the person identified.  Authenticity. What does it mean? What does it mean to you? Who are you, when you’re your most authentic self? And why is it, that at times, it makes one feel weak when showing one’s true nature? It makes one feel exposed. Vulnerable. You peeled off all of your layers, you ripped off all of your clothes, standing bare naked, hand in hand with your soul.  I believe in being genuine. To myself and to the people around me. However, that doesn’t mean that I’ve always succeeded in showing my true self. Far from it. Nonetheless, I can honestly say that there has been a tremendous growth within me when it comes to being honest. And I kinda like that. It makes me feel powerful. Far from weak. Some people might call me naive. On …

Define what success & happiness mean to you

”We rise by lifting others.”   When nothing is certain, anything is possible. My personal opinion when it comes to success is that I believe successful people are those who are living their passion, following their dreams and pursuing their goals in life – even though, at times, the path might be uncertain. Even though the path is dark, their inner light will always guide them.  It’s rather easy, and common, to talk about what we want in life; we write about it, and dream about it. We might even visualize how we achieve our dreams and our goals. But for many of us, it all stops there. What traits do successful humans have, that the persons who is stuck in their dreams, and keep on being stuck in their dreams, do not have? Below you’ll find ten traits that I strongly believe will have a great impact whether one becomes successful or not. Nevertheless, success looks different for everyone. Therefore it’s of utmost importance that you define what success and happiness mean to you. …
