Dear July…

… it’s you, since no one else makes sense. ”There’s beauty in simplicity.” July, I can’t believe you’re almost here. I don’t even know if I’ll have time to say goodbye to June. She is warm, she is lovely, filled with laughter. Please, be like June. Please, be forever. Please bring us humid days, foggy nights. Soul searching and loving kindness. It has always been you, dear July. Always been you. 5 am. Finding stillness. Seeking magic. Being free as the ocean, beautiful as the wildest flower. Inhaling confidence, exhaling doubt. Breathing in the warm days, short nights. Wide awake, we are, while watching the sunset gracefully transforming into sunrise. I’ll be all there, wherever you’ll take me. July is for meeting childhood friends who will always be friends although you meet far too seldom. It’s for being vulnerable, being soft. Finding that inner, burning fire. Moonlight, thunderstorm and heavy rain. Poetry filled with soul and passion, the wildest of dreams coming true. July is for festivity and reading books. July is for being me. ”Be careful who you make …

The flow of life

”Destruction breeds creation.” Life is a series of natural, and spontaneous changes. In order for us humans to obtain peace and happiness it’s vital that we become comfortable with everything that’s unfolding; circumstances taking place, feelings and emotions running through our bodies, as well as people dancing in and out of our lives. Change is the nature of life. It’s the nature of your being. I believe the only rational thing for us to do is to embrace every aspect of life – the good and the bad, the highs and the lows, the love and the fear – whatever life may present us with, shouldn’t we just dive right in, and at least try our best in line with the moment we’re in. But what if there is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so, as William Shakespeare so neatly put it. According to the Vedas (the primary texts of Hinduism) there is no such thing as good or bad, right or wrong. There are only creation -> maintenance -> destruction. …

A peaceful mind

”The joy is one with who you are, and cannot come to you. It arises from deep within.”   Growth is painful, change is painful, but there is nothing as painful as staying stuck where we don’t belong. Life is meant to be experienced; the highs, the lows, the good and the bad. Everything has its purpose, and your purpose should be to fully embrace who you are. All aspects of who you are. Your flaws, your strengths. Your beauty. There’s a reason why you’re here, darling human.  I guess the problem is that sometimes we’re just trying too hard. We’re trying to control every part of our life; planning for the future, minute by minute. Trying to predict the future, worrying about the future. But the fact is, the future is constantly changing, and all we can impact is the present moment. The future is being created while you’re fully present in this moment. And the next, and the next, and the next. Wherever you are, be there. You don’t have to have all of your …

Being easily pleased

”We could never have guessed, we were already blessed where we are…” – James Taylor Beauty is found in the ordinary. As the winter sun caresses my frozen cheeks my fears slowly melt away, like snowflakes on a sunny April day. Reading books that open up my heart, providing me with valuable knowledge. Being able to constantly challenge the mind. Making a beautiful home cooked meal. Putting pen to paper, exploring the creative mind. Still, I know you’re with her. It’s the little things, without them there would be no essence to everyday life. Without them there would be no Me. There would be no Us.  One of the three books I’m reading at the moment is a book written by Mark Nepo ”The Book of Awakening – Having the Life You want by Being Present to the Life You Have.” In one of the chapters Nepo writes that; ”One key to knowing joy is being easily pleased.” I find this to be very true. However, this doesn’t mean that you should stop striving for …

Dear June…

Ursprungligen publicerad på my (he)ART:
…you’re my favourite month. ”You’ll turn out ordinary if you’re not careful.” June is for waking up early. For staying up late. The Midnight Sun screaming for attention. June is for restless nights. June is for magic. Young and green. June is for miracles. For feeling alive. June is for picnics and counting stars. June is for beauty in its purest form. June is a wild child, a summer child. Growing into the adolescence of autumn. June is for believing everything is possible.  June is a month when I feel most alive. I blame the sunlight, the long days and short nights. I sleep a lot during winter, but could stay up whole June. The nature – pure, fresh and clean. June might as well be cold and rainy, but it’s still June. It’s still magic. My deepest desire is to spend every waking moment underneath the Sun. Close to the Sea. Close to the Heart. ”To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong” ? This…

5 benefits from drinking green smoothies

‘Let’s wake up with a smile, make green smoothies and conquer the day.’   Whenever I’m at home I try to have a green smoothie as the first meal of the day. I’ve become slightly addicted to them as they provide me with so much energy. And of course they taste delicious. However, I like my green smoothies to be more on the sweet side, hence I always mix frozen banana or frozen mango into the blender. Not to forget the almond butter or peanut butter. The best thing is – you can be creative and improvise. Combine your favourite veggies and/or fruits, some kind of superfood and spices, nuts & seeds, dairy free milk of your own choice and you have yourself a delicious meal. I also prefer cold smoothies so I usually add frozen banana. Amazingly yummy. More energy – Smoothies can be very energy dense, providing your body with loads of healthy stuff. Perfect if you’re searching for a calorie dense meal – add some kind of nut butter (almond butter is …

Small changes to healthier eating habits

”The food you eat can be either the safest & most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”   Big changes don’t happen overnight. They take time and effort. However, small changes, each and every day, can make a big difference since they eventually will have a big impact in your life. As your small changes become habit, you can continue to add even more healthy choices. The desire to change can happen overnight, though it can be overwhelming to tackle everything all at once. ”Change is hardest in the beginning, messiest in the middle, and gorgeous at the end.” – Robin Sharma  It’s the consistent process that makes the difference. Consistency is key to successful results. Although health shouldn’t be regarded as something that has an end. Healthy living is an ongoing process, it’s a way of living. Firstly, change the way you’re thinking – Instead of saying ”stop doing” say ”start doing”. It’s a more positive way of thinking. The focus should be on what you’re gaining instead of what …
