Everyday Encouragements

”There is nothing outside of yourself that can ever enable you to get better, stronger, richer, quicker or smarter. Everything is within. Everything exists. Seek nothing outside of yourself.” – Miyamoto Musashi As I’m a reading the book ”An Introduction to Buddhism” by the Dalai Lama, I wanted to share some of the principles within the religion/philosophy that I personally find of utmost importance and interest. To me Buddhism is a philosophy, a way of living, that contains plenty of wisdom and plain common sense. However, this is my interpretation, and I believe Buddhism is more a collection of methods and ways of realizing the truths of life; a guide to help us discover true peace and happiness in life. 1. If you truly want to change your life, you first must be willing to change your mind. Your mind is a powerful tool. It can come up with the most amazing ideas; it can cure cancer, travel to the moon, write novels, create pieces of art making people cry. Nevertheless, use your mind wisely; rule …

Live in color

”don’t blame me;the moon was full.”   Life would be rather dull if we would live in grey and black all the time, wouldn’t it? We need a little more spark in our life. A little more passion. A little more joy. A little more of everything that puts a big, fat smile on our face; poetry art the ocean red lips the autumn breeze summer nights sex laughter dreams plant-based food pure white snow empty beaches bare skin sunset the early hours love thunderstorms human beings dogs the smell of light summer rain music crispy apples yoga curiosity the midnight sky space snowy mountains morning coffee kindness ❤ Linda

Speak truthfully

”Dare to speak up for the things important to you.”   Staying true to one’s inner voice in a world filled with chaos might not always be the easiest thing to do. Surrounded by an immense amount of impressions and pressure we’re trying to find our way, seeking truth in an untruthful world. It’s time to take the blindfolds off – it’s time to speak the truth.  One of my intentions this March (and for the whole year) is to live truthfully. But what does it actually mean, to live truthfully? It’s about speaking up for the things important to you, the things that make your heart pound a little faster. It’s about daring to be yourself, staying curious and alive. It’s about letting kindness, wisdom and compassion guide you on your way. Knowing that it’s never too late to expand your horizon, never too late to grow and develop into the human you’re meant to be. People change, you change. Stay open. Be alert. It’s about trusting yourself, knowing that you have the power within. …

Ways to be more mindful

”Don’t wish things to be any different. They are exactly as they should be.”   You don’t have to meditate in order to become more mindful (although it might help) However, there’re several ways by which you can invite stillness, and thereby welcome a more conscious awareness into your daily life. James Baraz puts it very nicely: ”Mindfulness is simply being aware of what is happening right now without wishing it were different; enjoying the pleasant without holding on when it changes (which it will); being with the unpleasant without fearing it will always be this way (which it won’t).” Below you’ll find five ways that help me breathe a bit slower. What’s your way? walk in nature ”trust the seasons changing, trust your inner voice. it knows.” There’s a special thing being one with nature, whether it’s watching the ocean, smelling the forest, hiking in the autumn mountains, taking a midnight swim or laughing up in the air. Nature has a tendency to teach us plenty; she teaches us how to be still, how …

5 Positive habits that will improve your life

”Now is the perfect time to start imagining all that you can do.”   It’s never too late to implement fresh, new habits into your day-to-day routine. As I mentioned in a former blog post (Five life perspectives to live by) – if you’re looking for a mini life-makeover, then, first things first, you need to start from within. In other words, start with your mental state, since most often it’s the root to all problems. If you don’t change what’s going on inside your mind – with your thoughts, who you are and the way you think about certain things – then it’s going to be very hard to find a new sense of happiness, contentment and inspiration. Below you’ll find 5 positive habits to implement in 2019: Patience ”Allow things to unfold naturally.” I believe the main difference between successful and unsuccessful people is not the way they vary in their competencies, but the way they vary in their ambition, and desires to reach their potential. Persistence and patience is key, since good things usually …

Dear December…

… you set my soul on fire (and yet, you haven’t even arrived) ”With the moon and with the stars, how can we say we don’t have enough?”   The silent hour of night, and my heart suddenly arise. Caressing my awaken sight, while awaiting you, with blissful eyes. Watching snowflakes quietly at rest, while the moon shining its light upon us. 50 shades of snow, wherever we choose to go. Darling December, the way you transform the darkness. Even at 4 am. The world is still, sky black, mind intense. Emotions wide awake, heart half asleep, in a blissful lullaby sleep. I hope your dreams are sweet.  December is for love and laughter. Peace and joy. The bright-pink sky with heart-shaped clouds, peacefully passing by. It’s for warm-hearted gestures, compassion and loving-kindness. Snowflakes dancing outside our window, making every moment irresistible. Gifts wrapped up in affection, kindness and hope. It’s December, you can wish for anything. What will you wish for? This December is all about giving more of yourself. Give your time, your attention. Your …

Friday Feeling – Will Power

”I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.” – Albert Einstein What is your biggest talent? Maybe you’re good with words? Good at inventing and building things? Or maybe you’re a skilled entrepreneur, or a great pastry chef? Whatever your talent might be, talent alone will never be enough. Hard work, persistence and will power will decide exactly how much of your talent that will come forth. Nature alone isn’t enough; you’ll have to nurture your gift. Talent can, however, be seen as a vital starting point, but without the dedication and will power to develop and master your skills talent alone will never be enough. While you can be extremely gifted in a particular skill, the likelihood that you succeed decreases greatly as soon as you stop nurturing and developing your talent. Someone else with less talent working day and night cultivating their skills will most likely succeed with far greater possibility. ”Self-regulation is the process of identifying a goal or a set of goals and, in pursuing these goals using both internal (e.g. …

What’s your reason for being?

”Wherever you are, be there.”   Who are you? I’m not asking for your name, or where you were born. I’m not asking about your profession, or your field of study. I’m not asking about what has happened to you in the past. And I’m not asking about your family, or who you’re dating. I’m asking about you.  Who are you? Finding oneself being lost in life, lost in translation, happens to all of us at some point in our life. If you’re feeling lost, then it’s exactly where you need to be right now. Be thankful to life, for always having your back. Be thankful for the path you’ve travelled; the way it has moulded you, and strengthened your sense of Self. Be thankful for where you are at this moment. With every breath; die with the past, surrender to the future, and awaken to the sound of your present heartbeat. The beauty of life lies in the simplest of things. You don’t have to feel obligated to write a list filled with material goals …

Not worthy of comparison

”dear self, you’re exactly who you need to be right now.”   August 27, 2018 Day 240 of 365 Your life is beautiful. Unfiltered, raw and beautiful. Dear human, take time to appreciate every chance you get to breathe in the mysteries of life. The dark, deep mysteries of nature. Embrace the softness in the air, the fresh ocean breeze, the steep mountain tops. Darling, embrace yourself. Darling, even the Moon shines its brightest during darkness. The path you’ve been travelling, to get to where you are right now, is yours. Your life is not comparable to anyone else’s, just as your Self can’t be compared to any other human being’s Self. Instead, focus on honoring your uniqueness. Don’t let fear stop you from living life to its fullest. Don’t let fear stop you from being you. ”Comparison is the death of creativity. The death of your Self.” It’s rather common to obsess about other people’s lives, other people’s success stories, that you completely forget about your own possibilities to succeed. Within seconds you can …

Things I like at the moment

”If you listen, you’ll hear her breathe.”   It’s in the little things. Ordinary moments turning into excitement. Fulfilment. Do you know you already have everything you need? Life. You have life. This second. Filled with anticipation. Filled with the little things. Everything you need. This very moment.   ”while in stillness i hear your heart beat not am i even next to you yet i imagine every sound.”   Humid & light summer nights at sea ”Breathe her in.” The stars, the moon, a warm, gentle breeze. Everything we need. Everything we asked for. The stillness speaks louder than our words. If you listen you’ll hear her breathe. Take a glimpse at the ocean. Allow the sound of the waves to caress your soul. You have talents; share them. You have a voice; speak up. You have dreams; believe in them. You’re human; be brave. Take a glimpse at the ocean. A glimpse at the heart. If you’d followed your intuition, we would never had been apart.   Books, books, books ”Turn a page.” …
