101 Lifetime Goals

”Goals have a finish line. Dreams never have to end.”

 

Don’t confuse your dreams with goals. Dreams are imaginary, goals produce tangible results. Goals usually have a deadline, either in the near future or several years from now. Dreams are simply dreams, if they aren’t turned into goals.

Achieving a goal requires action, and you won’t reach them over night. They usually require hard work, focus and determination. However, if you want them bad enough you won’t give up on them. You shouldn’t give up on your dreams either, but remember that dreaming doesn’t take you anywhere.

It’s important to have both short-term and long-term goals since it brings joy, purpose and meaning into your life. Begin by writing your goals down; it’s an excellent way to make them more specific, more tangible. You can introduce weekly goals, monthly goals, one year goals, five year goals etcetera.

Write a list with several goals you’d like to achieve. Since some goals will take longer to achieve than others it’s good to include short-term goals that are somewhat easier to accomplish. You’ll have more to strive for and more opportunities to check them off your list.

I’ve never been good at writing my goals down. I’ve always been more of a dreamer to be honest. But it’s never too late to change. Although I haven’t been putting them on paper I still have had goals (and still have) and many of them I’ve achieved. But until now they’ve been in my head. However, the past months I’ve become much better at writing them down.

Take some time and think about what goals you want to achieve in your lifetime. You might regard some of them as simply dreams, but if you find yourself dreaming about something every day maybe it’s about time that you take action. Remember; you don’t have to know exactly how you’re going to reach that goal, just be brave and take that first step – every tiny step counts.

I advice you to write all of your goals down, big or small. I read a blog post about 101 goals to achieve in life so I got inspired to write a similar list myself. I haven’t yet finished my list – it’s a work in progress.

Travel

  1. Tokyo, Japan
  2. Paris, France

  5. Hiking in the Alps (Austria, Switzerland or Italy)
  6. Cinque Terre
  7. Safari in Africa (Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Namibia or Kenya)
  8. Reykjavik, Iceland
  9. Vienna, Austria
  10. Seychelles Island
  11. New York
  12. Hong Kong
  13. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
  14. Cuba

Adventure

  1. Skydive (I’m seriously afraid of heights)
  2. Learn to surf
  3. Learn to snowboard
  4. Visit Nasa
  5. Go on a husky safari

  7. Watch an opera or ballet
  8. Go on a road trip through Europe
  9. Visit a vineyard in France

Mental Health Goals (to be reminded of every damn day)

  1. Always choose positive thoughts
  2. Stop comparing myself to others
  3. Enjoy the present moment
  4. Believe in myself
  5. Be brave
  6. Surround myself with encouraging, positive and loving people
  7. Don’t take life too seriously
  8. Stop playing small, since we’re all meant for great things
