2022 intentions

”Everything you seek, already resting within.”

I’m a firm believer in writing my intentions, goals and dreams down, preferably on a piece of paper. I guess I am more of a dreamer/planner than a doer. However, my intentions for the past years were all about taking action and believing in myself and my abilities. Now, looking back on these past months, I not only sense that a stronger confidence has slowly started to grow within me, but I have this strong feeling of being connected to something greater than my physical being.

When it comes to intentions, you can choose to write daily, weekly, monthly and/or yearly intentions. I prefer to write my intentions in the beginning of every month, as well as set one daily intention that helps guiding me throughout the day. Setting intentions not only makes it easier to stay focused, but it helps to keep the motivation up as well as staying more grounded and closer to one’s core self.

Below you’ll find some of the intentions I’ve written earlier, and these will still be the main ones I’ll keep focusing on for 2022. The past week I felt a bit tired and unmotivated (probably due to the fact that I’ve been suffering from the flue), therefore I thought what better way then to read through my earlier written intentions in order to find my core focus again. And actually, this has helped me a lot, to regain my motivation and find that inner spark again. You see, everything you need, seek and long for is already within.

2022 intentions

  • Cultivating an abundance mindset – ”There’s an abundance flowing within and without; everything I need, seek and long for is already within me.” This is a mindset I encourage myself to adopt in every area of my life whether it’s love, career, health, money or opportunities.
  • Spreading kindness & compassion – I will strive my best to show loving kindness to all living beings; animals, humans and the planet. I’m inspired by random acts of kindness and compassionate people with big hearts filled with wisdom. There’s something special about humans who are caring and warm-hearted to everyone; it seems like they are carrying a sense of calmness within despite with whoever they interact.
  • Planting confidence – being confident without being cocky is very attractive. Cultivating a belief in myself is always on top of my to-do-list. We’re capable of achieving way more than we give ourselves permission to pursue. Persistence is key here, and a willingness to work hard for what you want in life.
  • Breathing mindfulness – bringing mindfulness into everything I do – whether it’s writing, studying, working, being in nature, meditating, speaking with friends and family – I can always choose to be a bit more here and a little less somewhere else.
  • Embracing my sensitivity – as a highly sensitive person I’m very sensitive to the people around me and their energies. I also feel a whole range of emotions, and it’s nothing wrong with that – as a matter of fact it’s completely normal and healthy to be able to tap into one’s feelings. Nonetheless, I’ve also become to realize the importance of not holding on to emotions for too long; I simply let them pass through me, and then peacefully let them go when they have done their job. Feelings like fear, worry and doubt don’t serve us in any way (if we clearly aren’t being threatened of course), and it’s about time we let go of them once and for all. While embracing my emotions I’ve become more self-aware, and more in tune with my inner state of being.
  • Nurturing my intuition – I’ve always had a strong intuition, and I would like to cultivate it even more. I’ve noticed that the more I meditate, taking time to really listen to my body and the stillness within, the more I feel connected to my inner voice; my inner guidance system so to speak. It gives a sense of power when you notice you can trust your intuition. I think all people have an inner voice waiting for them to listen carefully, however not everyone is ready to listen to what it has to say. I challenge you to pay attention to your intuition. Trust that you have all the answers within; you possess more power than you think, darling.
  • Tapping into my spiritual side – I’m an open-minded person and I love to explore different parts of myself. After cultivating my spiritual side a bit more I’ve become to understand how calm and peaceful it makes me feel. I’ve become more content and hopeful. I truly believe we’re spiritual beings having a human experience. I also believe that there’s so much more to life than the things we can experience through our five senses. Understanding that we’re all in this together, however, experiencing life in our own unique way, makes me feel more at peace, and content within my own being.

Have you set any intentions for the year ahead?

Dear January…

… be brave enough to speak your truth.

”If you want to know love you must lose your fear of life.”

January is for awakening to the authenticity within the soul. While nature’s half asleep – breathe, darling, breathe. Move, one precious step at a time. Trust yourself, never neglect your true worth. Your true light. Strive for progression, growth and compassion. There’s always something to be grateful for. Life. Dear human, be grateful for life.

January is for taking that delicate, crucial first step. A beautiful opportunity to begin anew arises, sunrise after sunrise. Breath after breath. Souls awakening from the darkest of night. From the deep, deep slumber we all return to light. Guided by the strength within, shining bright.

Brave being, believe in your Self. Now. Appreciate the journey, for it molds you into the human you are. Now. Into the human you are becoming. Now. The human you’ve always been. Now.

Know that it’s ok to be scared, to not have all the answers. Be ambitious anyway. Be curious, be brave. It’s about listening, having faith. Allowing things to unfold naturally, with effortless ease. It’s about dancing with life, moving with the flow, surrendering to the magic floating around. Within and without.

Be still, and trust the inner wisdom, while it’s guiding you to where you belong, to the steps you need to take. Darling, it’s time for you to awake, to everything your heart can shake. Being passionately involved in what you believe in. Doing it as thoroughly and honestly and fearlessly as you can.

It’s all about sustainable, slow living, spreading loving kindness to all living beings. Focusing on the important, taking inspired action. Creating a graceful planet, a peaceful world within. It all begins with you.

January dear, I welcome you. Let’s awaken to the delicacy of this newborn day. Every moment, learning to flow with the breath of life. Surrendering to the truth, with everything that resonates with the core. Building a little garden in the heart.

Darling, be brave enough to speak your truth.

Discovering flow

Maybe it’s not so much about finding oneself, but more so about discovering, and uncovering that self.

”I want to live life in such a manner that my words will never die.”

l.m.v

Lately I’ve noticed that the quieter my surroundings, hence the less stimuli I expose myself to, the more space I create for my inner voice to shine through.

I easily distract myself with either work, social media, music, a podcast, a book or by watching YouTube. However, I do cherish the time off in-between; doing yoga, taking a walk in nature, exercising or meditating. Nevertheless, even then it’s not completely quiet around me, since I always have music, a podcast or a book in my ears.

After one week with less stimuli, and outside distractions, I’ve once again noticed the importance of silence in order to hear the silent whispers of the soul, and to reach that so called flow state.

It’s not uncommon that we humans find the silence to be boring and even frustrating – especially if one is not used to it. And if one is running away from their feelings, their thoughts or from life itself, the silence can even become unbearable. Nonetheless, after a couple of days one really starts to appreciate the stillness, and one might even learn how to use the hours with softness, despite the discomfort.

What to do with the silence?

Ease in to it, and trust that within the silence lies a significant amount of wisdom, ready to be experienced by you. The only thing required is your presence.

I’ve been faced with a rather bad vertigo since last Sunday, and the whole week I’ve been forced to take it easy. Instead of escaping the silence I’ve been inviting the silence. By embracing doing absolutely nothing I’ve noticed how the words have started flowing more effortlessly to me. Being on the yoga mat, doing some light stretching, without any distractions, is exactly what my soul has been starving for. It’s like it has created space within, for new energy to enter.

I truly believe creativity stems from an external source outside of us. This force is searching for an attentive and open-minded human being to feel, or experience, this subtle shift in energies, and thereby transform it into something tangible, whether it’s a painting, a poem, a novel or an invention. And by being in stillness, one allows for this energy to do its thing. To work its magic.

”And maybe it’s actually not so much about changing, but more so about becoming the person one always has been. Not finding oneself, but recognising and honouring that self.”

l.m.v

So, a little advice from me to you; Don’t rush through the moments of silence, the moments of stillness, cause within their insignificance lie a more subtle meaning. To fill the most ordinary day with joy and bliss is within your reach each and every day. Take a glimpse within, and know, while there’s no need to rush through life, there’s a tremendous need to start appreciating life. To start treating it with love and care. Breath after breath.

With this being said, I do believe we can learn a lot from Mother Nature when it comes to embracing the silence, embracing the now and issness of the moment. While dancing through seasons, she does not rush. Taking her time – to unwind, to unfold, to let go and to transform. Allowing herself to bloom. Month after month. Year after year. Going through phases fully present, fully alive. Fully confident in her transparency and vulnerability. Wise enough to know, that letting go doesn’t necessarily mean being deprived of, but creating space, creating opportunity. She has her end-goals and dreams, however, at the same time she acknowledges the process and the in-betweens. The tranquility of being winter when she’s winter, and summer when she’s summer.

Dear December…

… let yourself become still.

The last two years I’ve been posting a letter on my blog in the beginning of each and every month. Dear January, Dear April, Dear October… This quickly became my (and my readers) favorite way of writing. I allowed myself to become still, and to let the words flow to me, not forcing, simply creating space. To be able to quiet the mind, and to listen to what lies underneath is, however, my main purpose while seeking stillness. When the mind is turbulent it’s difficult to hear or see anything, however, when the mind is calm, everything becomes clear blue sky. I believe this is how creativity enters, and transforms into either words, art, inventions or wisdom.

And now to one of my favorites.

Dear April…

… I swear, you got my feelings playing butterflies.

”April darling, nature must be head over heels for you, the way she blossoms when you arrive.”

Animals and humans awaken from the darkest of night. From the deep, deep slumber we all return to light. The bright golden sunrise, burning through our windows. Caressing our cheeks, awakening our hearts. Dreaming of doing everything in life, and nothing on rainy Sundays. Watching captivating sunsets, and counting countless numbers of stars. Happily having you, blooming in my arms.

April is for getting lost in translation. Being curious and bold. Breathing in lust, breathing out fear. Breathe me in like air. It’s about a new earth, hope, and letting go. Soft raindrops against the window, purifying dark winter souls. Touch me without the hand, with the mind, undress me with the eye, baby darling be aware, those feelings will be playing butterflies.

April is for being affectionate, playful and passionate. Confident, happy and alive. Stop looking for it on the outside, when it’s already resting within, patiently awaiting for you to come out of your coma. It’s about letting go of the idea that you always have to be the one you have been. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself, it’s never too late to flourish like an early spring day. Whatever flower you wish to be. Just bloom, darling, bloom.

Grow, expand your horizons, as the birth of this new, flourishing season.

The voice within, screaming for attention, eager to come out and play. Wishing for you to speak your truth, dive into creativity, and to blissfully watch life through the eyes of your inner child. Playful, excited and filled with compassion.

Now is the time to take a glimpse at nature, a glimpse at the stars, and believe, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.

Be still, yet alert. It’s time to give birth.

Dare to show your true colors. Dare to be the person you are. Let wisdom and experiences fill your day, let it guide you on your way. Open your heart and mind to all possibilities floating around. It’s within pain we find strength. The strength to be who we are.

Humans smiling the brightest are usually the ones crying the loudest.

Let. It. Out.

April darling, I welcome you. You move me with your blooming nature, cloudless sky. Your enchanting soul makes my entire being come alive. You bring me peace, you bring me hope. One look at you, and I know, everything will come through.

Dear November…

… let’s get lost, shall we?

”Get lost, on the path less traveled, and return, a little bit more well-lived.”

Embrace the thought – Never fully completed – and your existence might become a little less intimidating. More light-hearted, less heavy. You do not have to have all the answers. All the lovers. All the glimmery, shiny things. As long as you have an intense yearning to listen, understand, and respond accordingly. As long as you carry within a deep desire to experience all that’s making you grow, bold and flow. Compassionate.

Get lost, on the path less traveled, and return, a little bit more well-lived.
With bruises and scars, but a heart so filled. Smell the roses, taste your tears,
unlock your laugh.
Whenever your voice can’t carry you in an honest manner – speak, however soft, and weak.

It’s a spinning wheel, or a tranquil deal. Your choice. Off-track, on-track,
in-between, love and laughter, fear and disaster. It is you life, be that as it may,
always say thank you, for this new day. You do not know what it has in store for you, on this particular today.

November dear, I welcome you. You’re one of a kind, and so perfectly designed. I sense something wonderful is about to unwind.

What is love?

”Love is what love does.”

Let’s begin with what love is not. Love is not ownership. Love is not the need to control. Love is not jealousy. Fear of loss. Fear of life. Love is not ”you’re mine”.

”Take my hand, inhale my breath, we wont die, as long as we don’t fall in love.”

– l.m.v

Love is courage. Love is acceptance. Love is patience. Love is work. Give and receive. Freedom. Non-judgment. Love is. Comfort.

to sit in silence,
with you,
means more than

a thousand of words
with someone else.

At the moment I’m reading the book ”The Road Less Traveled – A New Psychology of Love, Traditional Values and Spiritual Growth” written by M. Scott Peck. I believe it came out in the 70’s, however, with its timeless message about the very nature of loving relationships it helps the reader how to distinguish dependency from love, how to become a more sensitive parent; and ultimately how to become one’s own true self. I highly recommend the book, if you haven’t already read it.

love me in such a way
that makes me
feel
free

silly darling,
stop craving
my attention
if you can’t handle
my love.

i never promised you my rose garden

I once rose in love with a man.
I believe it was the eyes.
Or the presence although an ocean apart.

But that is not love, they laughed.
But what is love, I whispered.
If it’s not recognising a soul you once knew.

i never promised you my rose garden

With this being said; what is love for you? Put some time aside today to think about what love means to you.

Dear August…

… you make me feel at home. At home in this restless soul of mine.

”Darling, if you want to know love you must lose your fear of life.”

The leaves shine bright in warm golden light. Utterly mesmerized, while watching summer falling artlessly in love with the early breaths of fall, whispering final words of goodbyes. Be aware darling human, be aware, you’re shifting, like the softest, brittlest wind. Stay open, be alert, now, the perfect time for a rebirth.

While I’ve always kept summer close to my heart, still and all I believe my soul breathes for fall.

August is for faith. Love and compassion. Knowing one’s worth, and the ability to shine light in another person’s life. Taking care of the body, as well as the soul. Exploring new cities and friendships. It’s for constantly learning, constantly evolving. Small steps in the right direction. Appreciating every victory, every mistake. Blissful mornings. Dark, quiet evenings. Golden opportunities from dusk till dawn. The bright sunlight caressing thirsty hearts. Thirsty souls. The ability to inspire other human beings. Improving the quality of life. Challenging the body. Loving the body. Loving life.

”Your greatness is not what you have; it’s what you give. Give kindness, love and passion. Sprinkle your heart everywhere – paint the world, color your life, as well as everyone else’s. Never, ever hide the beauty of your heart. The beauty of you.”

This August is all about being present in the here and now. It’s about finding humour in everyday life. Expecting, and enjoying the unexpected. Curiosity and creativity. Confidently chaotic. It’s about a life that’s flourishing and exciting. Beautiful and unexpected. It’s about life.

Awaken dear human, awaken your soul. August is for seeking knowledge, the truth resting deep within. Savor every breath of this moment, while summer effortlessly turns into fall. It’s pure beauty, pure art. Nature soothes us with her colorful heart. Wherever we go, whenever we fall, mother nature’s passionate spirit embraces us all.

Make a choice, take the leap, and don’t you dare to forget your true worth underneath.

I welcome you. The colours of your soul, absolutely ravishing.

”You’re never alone with a soul full of heart. A sky full of stars, and a world full of hope. Never alone. Never afraid. With a soul full of passion.”

August, darling. Teach us that it’s never too late for new beginnings, never too late to reinvent oneself. In the midst of all the chaos we find ourselves. Never afraid to start again. Begin again. Again and again. Dear human, close your eyes to old ends, open your heart to new beginnings.

It’s time to move forward, time to evolve. Dear August, take our hand, it’s time to resolve. Guide us to where we need to be. You always have the power to shift your life from where you are, to where you dream to be. I know summer, you do not want to leave. However, your tight grip makes it hard to breathe. Please, make room for her colorful soul, await, it’s time for her to become whole.

Dear July…

… hug me, I want to feel your heart beat.

”Sometimes I’m weak, scared and vulnerable, nevertheless, more often I’m strong, confident and alive. At peace.”

July is for chasing dreams. Catching stars. Peaceful, dark summer nights. July is for late evening swims, enjoying the calmness of the sea. The calmness of the heart. July is for creativity, an imagination deeper than ever. The dark, dark sky filled with stars. Filled with hope. July is for believing in the power of nature. The power of humanity. Humid days and foggy nights. July is for beautiful souls searching for inner peace. Inner light. Loving kindness, curiosity and bravery.

Be brave, darling dear. Be brave. Everything you wish for, believe, and it will come to you. Flowers will grow. Don’t you know you were created to create? Create magic, create yourself. If it’s meant to be it will flow to you, effortlessly and gently. Give yourself permission to relax and enjoy the magic of being. Breathe in the now, exhale the past. Stay wild, darling moon child, stay wild. Remember, life will always have your back.

flowers will grow

This July is all about success, bravery and dusty, dreamy mornings. Things working out exactly as supposed to. It’s about inner freedom, inner light. Not getting lost in thoughts, but objectively watching them pass by.

”Come to know the one who watches the voice, and you will come to know one of the great mysteries of creation.”

– Michael A Singer

Everything is temporarily; the dark night, the softness of a new dawn. Flow with the current. Flow with the speed of light. Darling, be the light. Be the love this beautiful world so desperately needs. Find comfort within. Turn inwards, speak to your soul – let it out, let it dance.

you’ll always be the one i seek

July darling, I discovered something lately. Something serene, spacious. Still. To carry with me. Wherever I go. Whenever I fall. I rise up. It’s my full moon, deep ocean. My clear blue sky. The air I’m exhaling, inhaling. And I carry it, within my heart.

I welcome you. Let’s get lost in this dark, deep, devoted night, brimmed with seduction, soul and sparkling light. Dance with me under the moonlit sky. The nightfall won’t last forever, however, expect miracles when nature’s filled with work of art, true beauty in every heart. And lastly, kiss me gently on my cheek, and know, you’ll always be the one I seek.

Linda

Dear June…

… my soul talks about nothing but you.

If it’s out of your hands, it deserves freedom from your mind too.”

June dear, nature must be head over heels for you, the way she blossoms when you arrive. I look at you, and wonder, out of all the months in the world, I’m happy to have found one so perfect for me.

June is for hot, loving summer nights. Magical, never-ending evenings. The sun wide awake, but please, don’t go back to sleep, you’re one to keep. June is for finding the happy within. Smelling roses and counting stars. Eating strawberries and breathing in vitamin sea. June is for dancing with the waves, playing with nature – kissing the soft, morning rain.

You’re impeccable, just the way you are.

This June is all about not forcing things. What flows, flows. What crashes, crashes. There’s only space for the things that are meant for us. Beautiful words, beautiful beings. Life is happening now, while appreciating where we are in our journeys, even if it’s not where we want to be. Every season serves a purpose, including June.

It’s about speaking with integrity, expressing deeply rooted desires. Throwing out limiting beliefs, negative self-talk. It’s about becoming what we always knew we were. Trusting, and accepting oneself. Loving oneself.

Don’t ever forget to smell the blessings around you. Don’t ever forget to breathe in the person you are.

”Wild, my darling, be wild. Don’t let them tame you.”

Dear June, I welcome you. Teach us, how to become one with what is, within and without. Still and alert. Precisely as nature at 5 am. Promise dear, you’ll keep us safe. Darling promise, this time your burning sunlight will last forever. Darling remember, wake me up before you disappear.

How to change your mindset

”Respond to every call that excites your spirit.”

– Rumi

A fresh start isn’t a new place,

it’s a new mindset.

Research shows that our thoughts are 95% repetitive and 85% negative. In other words; we’re constantly repeating negative thoughts. It’s rather convenient to start living life on autopilot, especially when life gets busy, and distractions of all kinds are drawing our attention. In most cases we’re not even aware of the thoughts we’re having, and how they might affect us.

To begin with; there might be many different reasons why we humans feel the need to change, however, I read somewhere that there are two main reasons that usually stand out;

Either our minds have been opened to something new, whether it’s a new way of thinking through facing new experiences, or meeting someone with a completely different mindset from our own.

The second reason is when facing a traumatic event or experience; maybe we got our hearts broken, lost a dear friend or family member, or fell ill to a disease – something traumatic happened, and as a result triggered a change. Whatever the reason, the experience itself transformed something within, and therefore planted a seed – a seed that wanted to grow, wanted to change.

And sometimes there might not be any particular event, or experience, driving this need to change. It might simply be that we’ve become aware that the thoughts we’re having are not guiding us in the most positive direction. In a sense we feel out of control, like we’re not the one in power, and thereby, not the one in control of our state of being.

Nevertheless, we have the power to change this,

to turn things around.

Neuroplasticity

When it comes to our mindsets, we can literally rewire our brains by changing our thinking. Our brain is like a sponge, constantly absorbing new thoughts, beliefs and experiences. This term called neuroplasticity is when the brain form new neural pathways due to certain factors like behavior, environment or neural processes. During such changes, the brain engages in synaptic pruning, deleting the neural connections that are no longer necessary or useful, and strengthening the necessary ones.

”When we learn something new, we create new connections between our neurons. We rewire our brains to adapt to new circumstances. This happens on a daily basis, but it’s also something that we can encourage and stimulate.” (https://positivepsychology.com/neuroplasticity/)

With this being said, it’s never too late to change and adapt to new circumstances, in other words it’s never too late to turn your mindset around. It might, however, require a great deal of practice and patience, nevertheless, consistency is key.

You might think, ”But they are only thoughts”, and in a way they are, however, your thoughts shape your reality.

Take it step by step

A first, crucial step is to bring awareness to your thoughts. You need to identify, and observe your thoughts. Once you start observing and being aware of your thoughts you’re able to take control, and start changing them. This is what makes being human so fascinating; that we’re the ones in control of our inner state of being; neither the actual events happening around us, nor another human being, but we ourselves.

We choose how we react to the things happening for us.

How do you observe your thoughts?

By separating yourself from your thoughts.

If you start realizing that you don’t like the way you talk to yourself – decide how you want to think, feel, or do. Create new thoughts that support what you want to think, feel, or do.

Transition your negative thoughts to neutral thoughts, and then neutral thoughts to positive thoughts.

e.g. 1 ”I hate my job.””This might not be my dream job, but I’m thankful for being able to pay my bills.” ⇒ ”This job has taught me tremendously, and everything I’ve learned thus far will help me achieve my dream job.”

e.g. 2 ”I’m not good enough.” ⇒ ”I’m open to learning more about myself.” ⇒ ”I have my unique talents and traits. I too have something to offer to the world, just as everyone else. I’m worthy of letting my true self shine through.”

Be appreciative of where you are right now, in this moment. It might not be where you wish to be, but dwelling and focusing on the negatives won’t take you anywhere.

Take action, each and every day, towards where you want to be. Since you can’t change the past, or control the future, your job should be to accept the journey, to accept the moment. The future is created in the present moment through your daily decisions, however small they might seem. Worry is such a waste of time, instead, embrace what you can control. Embrace the moment you’re in.

What can you do right now, that will take you one step closer to where you want to be?

Ask yourself how you can start believing what you want to believe. Begin by practicing neutral thoughts until you believe them. Write them down and read them everyday, repeat them in your mind. After a time you’ll realize that these neutral thoughts have become a part of your new mindset, and you can move them into positive thoughts a little at a time until you’ve made them your new beliefs.

Growth mindset

This being said, strive to become conscious of your thoughts, and learn how to adapt to a growth mindset. A mindset when you believe that you can get smarter, better or more skilled at something through sustained effort. It all comes down to self-care and compassion towards yourself. Know that you have the power to change your mindset – it’s up to you to decide who you would like to become (in fact, that person resides within you already, you just have to let him/her shine through).

Changing your mindset, and transforming deeply stored beliefs and limitations isn’t something that will happen within one day; you’ll have to put in both time, and effort. However, the best thing of all – through persistent work your brain will start to adapt to your new thoughts, and begin to rewire and create new connections between the neurons.

Our brains are remarkable, and capable of so much. I strongly believe that when we start using everything we got to our advantage things will start to change, for the better.
