Find comfort in the chaos

”With a brave heart anything is possible.”   Dear summer heat, you finally arrived. Too good to be true, but oh so adored. It feels like I’m in the southern part of Europe, but I’m in Turku, Finland. It’s almost 30 degrees here, and today has been absolutely lovely. I’ve been enjoying the gorgeous weather, and been trying to study for an entrance exam which I have tomorrow. Maybe not the smartest thing to do to study the day before an important exam. I should do nothing but relax, since my ”extra-mother” let me borrow her huge apartment, and I’m rather exhausted after a lot of work (and life). Tonight is an ice-cream, yoga kind of evening. But first – coffee & a run. I haven’t been writing in a while, I guess I needed a short break, as well as 100 % focus on the entrance exam. I’m so looking forward to tomorrow when it’s over, the past weeks have been hectic; trying to study while working full-time. The other day I went through some …

The beauty of aging

”Every day is a privilege to learn more about yourself, life and all its mysteries.”   Just like the Moon we go through phases, and just like the seasons we change. And like the midnight sky we shine like a million of stars, just like we cry like heavy clouds on a rainy Sunday evening. Life is beautiful in all its stages. Every morning we receive the gift of a new day. We get to grow one day older, and that my dear, is a gift greater than life itself.  Stop being afraid of getting older, show your deepest appreciation instead. The beauty of evolving, and getting wiser is a privilege. Every day we have a chance to learn more about ourselves, we have the opportunity to grow and learn from our experiences. We have the possibility to fall in love with our imperfections, our strengths and all our quirks. I believe that with age comes knowledge, not only the one found in books, but from life. You might find yourself in a situation where …

Breathe

”Breathe in life. Breathe out fear. Breathe in every moment. Breathe out every pain.”   My life is pretty hectic at the moment; I have to move by the end of next month, I’m studying for an entrance exam, I decided to participate in a writing competition, I work at a cruise ship, sailing between Finland and Sweden, AND I’m food blogging as well as writing bits and pieces for this blog (my precious baby). When life is busy it’s even more important to chill out a bit – to learn to relax, and find a quiet and peaceful moment every day. Yes, I would like to have more time to study for the entrance exam, but here on the ship it’s pretty darn difficult to find that extra time. However, I know everything will be just fine. And already next week I will go and look at an apartment; the very first one I applied for. Oh well, it’s just a look. Anyhow, it’s completely new so it would be awesome. One can at least …

Self-respect

”Oh baby, don’t you know. You’re a goddess. Don’t let them treat you like a doormat.”   Darling friend, feed yourself daily. Fill your plate with plenty of love, kindness and respect. Don’t depend on others to do so. Don’t ever lose your dignity and self-respect trying to make people love and appreciate you, when they just aren’t capable.   ”The more you love yourself, the less nonsense you’ll tolerate.”   It’s easy to lose sight of oneself every once in a while. You lose yourself when you listen too closely to what everybody else has to say. You might even lose yourself in your work, in your relationship or maybe you went to school for something practical rather than following your passion. Or maybe you just wanted to ”fit in”. Whatever the reason, now is the time to bring out the human you once tucked away. Finding yourself is about removing all the layers of ”what’s expected” and what’s acceptable”. It’s about stepping fully and completely into your true Self, living your purpose and …

Monday Mood & Workout

”You don’t get what you wish for. You get what you work for.”   Woke up with the sun. I sense it’s spring in the air. It’s the lighter days, I know it is. I adore them. Everything becomes lighter, not only the days, but the mood. Dear spring, we’ve been waiting for you. When you show up every flower starts blooming. Animals waking up from their winter sleep. We bloom. Even with fragile hearts.  I felt very energetic this beautiful Monday morning. A quick morning stretch, food blogging, writing and a well deserved workout. I think I’m ready for some studying (yawn)… I really would rather clean. Every time I know I should do something, I start cleaning. Cleaning is always a good idea. But even I know I don’t need to clean 7 days a week. And you know what!? I booked skydiving 😀 Or I asked the company when it would be a suitable day in May. One step closer to facing my fear of heights though… To escape fear you have to …

Friday Feeling – Confidence

”Doubt”   Happy Friday! Today’s Friday feeling is confidence. I believe there’re plenty of us that would gain a lot from being more confident in our daily lives; regarding decision making, when facing challenging situations, or simply how we perceive ourselves, as well as talk about ourselves. Do you consider yourself self-confident? Last Friday I wrote a blog post about self-care. You can read it here. I strongly believe confidence starts with self-care. Self-love plays an important part when wanting to grow confidence. The more self-aware you are, hence the more you know yourself – your strengths and weaknesses – the more you start believing in yourself and all that you’re capable of. As with a lot of things gaining confidence won’t happen over-night. For some it might require a great deal of practise, as well as incorporating daily habits, in order to obtain a feeling of a deeply rooted trust within oneself.   Ways to boost your self-confidence   ”There is no competition. Because nobody can be you.”   Take care of yourself. Don’t forget to groom …

What I learned working in Customer Service

”A simple act of kindness costs very little, but the dividend is remarkably powerful.” Most of my adult years I’ve been working in customer service, either as a full-time job or as a part-time job while studying. You might not expect a slightly introverted person to be working in customer service, but besides being more of an introvert I’m very kind-hearted, and I don’t mind helping people. In other words; I thrive off being able to help others. Even though some of the jobs drove me a bit crazy at times I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it weren’t for all the experiences I’ve gained. In my opinion working in customer service is a wonderful life lesson. It’s the most perfect way to learn more about human beings, and the way we behave in different situations. With that said, I’ve gathered some of the most important things I’ve learned after many years of serving people. Don’t take anything personally  What a person says to you says more about the person than it …
