The Pause That Changes Everything

As you plan for the year ahead and navigate daily life, there is one important thing to bare in mind – the power of the intentional pause. What do I mean with an intentional pause? It’s about taking a breather, that crucial pause when you reconnect with your body, and ask yourself; Is this in alignment with who I am? Is what I’m doing and feeling/thinking right now taking me closer to who I want to become? The more aware you are of yourself and your inner state, the easier it will be to make the right decisions. You see, when you are fully connected with your body, mind and spirit it won’t be as easy to fall astray. I am here now, in this moment. There is nowhere else I need to be. The intentional pause is about reassessing and readjusting if necessary, or simply about confirming; Yes I am right where I need to be right now. All is well. It’s not about judging yourself if or when you have fallen off track, …

Small daily habits to improve your life

”Ask yourself; Does this support my innermost being?” While being perfect is rather boring, we should instead strive to be a bit more willing to be the best version of ourselves. A version that will change from day to day, from hour to hour even. Some days we learn, some days we win. However, we don’t stop when the mountain gets too high or the sea too rough. Rather, we adjust. We may scream a little (or a lot), we may laugh at our foolishness. But we continue, we adapt. And that’s how we evolve. ”Fragile you are, little seed. Planted in the depths of thick, dark, nourishing soil. Resilient you are, blooming flower. Early spring.” l.m.v I strongly believe it’s the small daily habits that encompass the greatest value on our overall wellbeing. Like waking up early dawn, knowing it’s time to make yourself a freshly brewed cup of coffee. The smell and sound of coffee beans grinding. The taste of creamy oat milk, nicely poured on top of a hot, steamy cup of …

Self-care December

”We can never run out of love. It’s in the air we are breathing.” For most of us Christmas is a time of fellowship, joy and happiness. It’s a time when family get-togethers are more frequent, gifts and laughter are shared among loved ones, and eating a bit too much is part of the festivity. However, for a growing number of people the situation is completely different.  ”It’s Christmas time, there’s no need to be afraid. At Christmas time we let in light and we banish shade.” – Do they know it’s Christmas, Band Aid -84 The number of people, who live in poverty, suffer from addiction or loneliness, are increasing world-wide. A problem we simply cannot ignore, since its transparency in our society is getting more and more evident. The question remains – what can we do about it? How should, and can we address these problems? The answers might vary, of course, but I believe that each and every one of us have a responsibility – and that first tiny step you need …

What’s your reason for being?

”Wherever you are, be there.”   Who are you? I’m not asking for your name, or where you were born. I’m not asking about your profession, or your field of study. I’m not asking about what has happened to you in the past. And I’m not asking about your family, or who you’re dating. I’m asking about you.  Who are you? Finding oneself being lost in life, lost in translation, happens to all of us at some point in our life. If you’re feeling lost, then it’s exactly where you need to be right now. Be thankful to life, for always having your back. Be thankful for the path you’ve travelled; the way it has moulded you, and strengthened your sense of Self. Be thankful for where you are at this moment. With every breath; die with the past, surrender to the future, and awaken to the sound of your present heartbeat. The beauty of life lies in the simplest of things. You don’t have to feel obligated to write a list filled with material goals …

Positivity boost

”Dear human, something wonderful is about to happen.”   There are days when I have to remind also myself of the things I speak so highly of. Like for example the importance of having a positive mindset, no matter what life throws at you. There are a few empowering self beliefs that have the power to change your life. Simply ‘cause I strongly believe; you become what you believe. Our beliefs determine how we treat ourselves, but also how we choose to live our life and treat other people. These beliefs are deeply rooted within us, and therefore it can be very hard to change them. If you notice that your self beliefs are too negative then it’s only one person who can help you, and that person is you. However, in order to change something you first have to become aware of the ”problem”. Bring awareness into your life; the first step in reframing your thoughts is to listen and be aware of them so you can better understand them and your behaviour. The …

Laughter is cheap medicine

”Live from the deepest part of your being.” Human dear, believe in the magical being that you are. Live life in warm yellow light. See the light. Be the light. Let the sun caress your heart, your entire being. Wake up with a grateful heart, witness your presence, and decide every morning that you’re in a good mood. Darling, you always have the choice to be happy, you’re responsible for your own happiness. Be mindful of that nothing is permanent in this world, not even your troubles. This moment will pass, and you will never get it back. Be aware of your breath. Be aware of who you are. Embrace every experience with love and light, cause it will never come again.  Seriously, it’s all gonna be just fine. Start to welcome positive change into every area of your life. Don’t be scared that things won’t work out the way you planned, either they will or they won’t. That’s life. Stop second guessing yourself and start believing in yourself. Know that you have the freedom and power to …

Dear August…

… I think you’ll make my soul dance. ”Believe in yourself, darling human. Believe. Flowers will grow.”   August is for humid days, foggy nights. Soul searching and loving kindness. It’s for vulnerability and softness. Finding that inner, burning fire. Moonlight and thunderstorm. Poetry filled with soul and passion, the wildest of dreams coming true. It has always been you, dear August. Always been you.  Be brave, darling dear. Be brave. Everything you wish for, believe, and it will come to you. Don’t you know you were created to create? Create magic. Create yourself. If it’s meant to be it will flow to you, effortlessly and oh so gently. Give yourself permission to relax and enjoy the magic of being. Breathe in confidence. Exhale doubt. Stay wild, darling moon child, stay wild. Life always has your back. This August is all about success, bravery and dusty, dreamy mornings. Things working out exactly as supposed to. It’s about true inner freedom. Not getting lost in thoughts, but objectively watching them pass by. ”Come to know the one who watches the …

Things I like at the moment

”If you listen, you’ll hear her breathe.”   It’s in the little things. Ordinary moments turning into excitement. Fulfilment. Do you know you already have everything you need? Life. You have life. This second. Filled with anticipation. Filled with the little things. Everything you need. This very moment.   ”while in stillness i hear your heart beat not am i even next to you yet i imagine every sound.”   Humid & light summer nights at sea ”Breathe her in.” The stars, the moon, a warm, gentle breeze. Everything we need. Everything we asked for. The stillness speaks louder than our words. If you listen you’ll hear her breathe. Take a glimpse at the ocean. Allow the sound of the waves to caress your soul. You have talents; share them. You have a voice; speak up. You have dreams; believe in them. You’re human; be brave. Take a glimpse at the ocean. A glimpse at the heart. If you’d followed your intuition, we would never had been apart.   Books, books, books ”Turn a page.” …

Use the hours with softness

”Work when there is work to do. Rest when you are tired. One thing done in peace will most likely be better than ten things done in panic… I am not a hero if I deny rest; I am only tired.” – Susan McHenry   As soon as I feel out of sync with my mind and body I start feeling tired, unmotivated and stressed. Nowadays I notice it rather quickly, and I’ve learned exactly what to do in order to feel more grounded and peaceful. Whenever I need to be refreshed or renewed I spend time alone, in stillness, use the hours with softness and show appreciation to the present moment. There is no place more powerful than the present moment. However, most of us use this moment to think about the past or worry about the future. Very seldom we actually embrace all the wonderful things happening right now. Are you spending time with a loved one? Show gratitude. Are you lying on the couch, chilling at night? Show gratitude. Are you smelling the …

Happiness comes from setting goals?

”The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.”   A couple of days ago I read an interesting article in the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat – ”Onni tulee tavoitteista.” (Roughly translated; Happiness comes from goals.) The article is an interview with 40 year old Satu Pihlaja, a Finnish psychotherapist. At the moment she is working on a dissertation, while studying two other degrees and operating a privat clinic as a psychotherapist. In her spare time she practices yoga, sings in a rock band and spends time with her friends. (How many hours does she have during a day?!) Setting and accomplishing goals is, however, possible for every single one of us. It can be regarded as a characteristic that can be taught.  Satu Pihlaja does not regard herself as a ”doer”. During her teenage years she started to ask herself why she didn’t have any goals. She realized how dissatisfying it was to start studying the night before an exam. It was when she applied for the university that she understood that she won’t …
