Spread the light

”My home is within. That’s where the light is.”   Have you ever been so caught up in a stressful, painful situation that you forgot who you are? I bet you have, you are human. At some point in our lives it might have felt convenient to choose hate instead of love. Fear instead of excitement. Sadness instead of joy. Adopting fear and hatred should never be an option. Love, however, is always an option. It’s up to you to decide.  The past days I’ve been guilty of carrying too much pain and sadness within me. Darkness had its tight grip against my neck. Luckily it felt weird having all that negativity inside of me.”This is not who I am”. I became aware of how easily too much pain can drag a person down. ”Bitterness? Within me? Who am I?” I’ve never been a human filled with hatred. I’m compassionate. Loving and caring. I’ve always loved to dress up in a smile. Life teaches us lessons, every single day. If we let it. It’s …

How to develop an empowered mind-set

”Be humble enough to know that you’re far from perfect, and confident enough to know you can do anything you set your mind to.”     It’s crucial to develop a strong mind-set in order to navigate through life with confidence, clarity and a deep sense of trust within oneself. What characterises a strong, empowered mind-set, and what can you do to develop one? Every step you take move your life from where it is to where you’d like it to be; take off the blindfold, stay curious and walk with an open heart. It’s common that we become comfortable by staying in our comfort zone. People become comfortable in many different areas – everything from having a job that they hate, having feelings of sadness to underestimating oneself. In order to change something in life you’ve to change yourself, you’ve to change your way of thinking. And last but not least you’ve to change where you put your attention. Where attention goes, energy flows.   Where does your attention usually drift? – Are you obsessing …

Happiness comes from setting goals?

”The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.”   A couple of days ago I read an interesting article in the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat – ”Onni tulee tavoitteista.” (Roughly translated; Happiness comes from goals.) The article is an interview with 40 year old Satu Pihlaja, a Finnish psychotherapist. At the moment she is working on a dissertation, while studying two other degrees and operating a privat clinic as a psychotherapist. In her spare time she practices yoga, sings in a rock band and spends time with her friends. (How many hours does she have during a day?!) Setting and accomplishing goals is, however, possible for every single one of us. It can be regarded as a characteristic that can be taught.  Satu Pihlaja does not regard herself as a ”doer”. During her teenage years she started to ask herself why she didn’t have any goals. She realized how dissatisfying it was to start studying the night before an exam. It was when she applied for the university that she understood that she won’t …

Monday Inspiration

‘Darling, a beautiful thing is never perfect.’   I hope you have a lovely Monday, and a great beginning of the week. After a couple of days feeling unmotivated I now feel the inspiration slowly returning. You just have to find what makes you happy.  For me this means doing things that help me relax. Yoga is of course a great way to unwind but also reading books and inspiring articles, catching the sun, cooking, working out and travelling… (oh how I wish I could jump on a plane right now).   If you feel lost, or you lost your spark, ask yourself when you feel best in your life? What are you doing? Who are you with, and where are you? What do you value most in life? How would you like to feel?   This is not about striving for perfection, it’s about doing the best you can with what you have and with who you are. Appreciate the beautiful journey of life. Try not to focus too much on the destination. I …

Goodbye 2017

”The best view comes after the hardest climb.”   Every day you should learn something new. Every year you should grow. I’ve never considered New Years Eve like a time to start over, however, this year I see it as the most perfect day to leave everything that do not serve me behind, and believe that everything do happen for a reason. It’s not what happens to us that defines us, it’s our response to what happens. And response is something we can choose. Everything I’ve been through has made me who I am 2017 has been one of the toughest years ever, nevertheless, I feel I’ve grown tremendously. 2017 was the year I became more aware. I’ve learned to become more mindful, more present. And most importantly, I understand that I can always trust my intuition. I can trust myself, and all I’m capable of. I know I’m unique – we all are. I know I was meant to inspire other humans, I might not know exactly how, but I know that everything will eventually fall …
