To me, August has always been a time for new beginnings, more so than January. Growing up, it marked the beginning of the school year, and with it came the excitement of a fresh start and new possibilities.

So, even as an adult I carry the newness of August within me. Wanting to purchase a new calendar, notebook, and most of all I want to re-new my entire wardrobe, and sometimes even my identity.

Or maybe it’s not so much about renewing oneself, but more so about coming home to oneself. It’s funny, but the older I get the more I become her; my childlike, creative self who always appreciates the beauty around her. The one who loves to create from the heart, not caring what others might think of her. She just is. So, whenever August arrives I let her come forth a little more; I let her shine and take up space – cause she deserves it.

Still, with this being said, any day is a good day to allow your truest self to shine through. It does not have to be August, or January, for you to feel that now I can start over, begin anew. It can be a rainy Monday in October, a sunny July afternoon, Christmas eve…

You are exactly where and who you need to be right now.

So, if you are an August person like myself, why not use this month to fully immerse yourself in the hobbies and activities you love most? Is there something you’ve been longing to start but haven’t quite found the courage to begin? Why not take that first step today? It does not have to be a grand leap, even setting the intention to start focusing more on yourself is a first step.

Maybe this August is your moment to pause, and reconnect with the you, beneath the noise. Or maybe it’s simply your season to exist at a slow pace, and let inspiration find you. Or maybe you take bold action, perfect your morning routine and let bursts of creativity wash over you. Whatever it is; you do you.

Go within, and ask yourself – What do I want? And let the warm air of August guide you forward, one step at a time.
