Dear Friday…

… love me in such a way that makes me feel, free. ”We can never run out of love; it’s in the air we’re breathing.” Each and every one of us walking on this planet are worthy of a beautiful life. A life filled with joy, excitement, happiness and love. A life filled with abundance. Having said that, each and every one of us are responsible for our own happiness, to some extent.  However, for some of us it will definitely be a lot more challenging; it’s like the universe demands more from some people than others. Yet, I believe the universe won’t give you anything which you can’t handle. If you’re constantly going through difficult situations; please, take a step back, and pause for a while. What is this trying to teach me? How will this make me grow? In the end, it’s all about our mindset, and how we choose to look at the things happening for us. And yet I agree, at times it can be very difficult to try to find the …

Surrender

”In this moment I am exactly who, and where, I need to be.” There is no way we humans can control what is happening around us. We may think that we have control, or we may have thought that we had control (and now; all is lost). However, thinking that we have control is nothing but an illusion. Control can be seen as something that our minds have made up, in order to create a sense of security and safety. Earlier this year I listened to a Ted Talk podcast with Elisabeth Gilbert. She said something that I’ve been thinking about lately, something I remind myself of whenever I start to feel anxious and worried. Hopefully it can help you in this moment, in case you feel out of control or fearful. Whenever you tell yourself ”I’m losing control” or ”I have no control over the situation I’m in”  – Know that the sense that you had control was a myth to begin with… Recognise that you never had control, all you had was anxiety, and that’s what you’re …

When you’re feeling overwhelmed & stuck

”Find the courage to let go of what you can’t change.” We’ve all been there – feeling unmotivated and uninspired. Stuck in our own minds. But know that you can take your life in a new direction at any time. Even the smallest of changes, and adjustments can turn a mundane routine into a new exciting one; it’s all about perspectives. Every now and then it’s good to change things up, to keep thoughts and routines, fresh, in order to stay motivated and inspired. It’s easy to become under-stimulated if you keep on doing the same things, over and over again. And when things don’t happen as quickly as you would have hoped for it’s easy to lose the creativity, and that inner fire. You might not see instant results, something negative happens to you or you might just wake up one morning feeling unmotivated for no particular reason. In these situations it’s even more important that you hold on to hope, and try to see the moment for what it is – a moment …

Daily Intention Setting

”Listen to the universe while it sings to you, don’t wait until it screams, cause it will.” Setting intentions not only makes it easier to stay focused, but it helps to keep the motivation up, as well as staying more grounded and closer to one’s core self. I’m a firm believer in writing my intentions down, preferably on a piece of paper. When it comes to intentions, you can choose to write daily, weekly, monthly and/or yearly intentions. I prefer to write my intentions in the beginning of every month, as well as set one daily intention that helps guiding me throughout the day. Below you’ll find some of the intentions I wrote in January, while planning for the year ahead. However, every once in a while, whenever I feel a bit ”lost”, tired and slightly unmotivated I read them through, in order to find my focus again. And actually, it has helped me a lot, to regain my motivation and find that inner spark. You see, everything you need, seek and long for is …

Mindfulness & Resilience

”Resilience is not about overcoming, but becoming.” – Sherri Mandel Resilience (noun) re-sil–ience ”… the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats or significant sources of stress – such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace or financial stressors.” – American Psychological Association The past year has definitely been a year filled with adversity, threats and significant sources of stress. For many of us our sense of control swiftly disappeared, and we found ourselves solely relying on our inner strength. Taking it day by day. And some days, hour by hour. In a Ted Talk, Shauna Shapiro talks about mindfulness as one of the most effective vehicles for how to help people transform. ”What you practice grows stronger”, says Shapiro. According to research we can sculpt and strengthen our synaptic connections based on repeated practice. However, paying attention in the present moment is not enough, says Shapiro – it is how we pay attention. She talks about paying attention with kindness. The beneficial effects of kind attention are that it decreases …

A bird’s eye view

”The eyes are useless when the mind is blind.” How to master the art of observing life with an open mind? Where others see either black or white, to learn to see the rainbow? Life is a spectrum of moments, occurring one after the other. Anything can happen. And it’s impossible for us to know what might be hiding behind the corner. We’re allowed to change – in fact we should, change, and grow. In line with each and everyone of your breaths you are allowed to be. Exactly the one you were meant to be. For the most part of my life I’ve tried to live with an open-mind. I’m very curious, and I’ve always thought that there can’t be one answer to all of this. Of course not. My opinions do not have to align with yours. However, I will always respect you, for being you. For your actions, and thoughts, even those I don’t agree with. ”Oh, you think like that, interesting.” I think if we humans would strive to become better …

Embrace humility

”The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” – Socrates Part of being humble means realizing that you don’t have all the answers. Humble people are curious and eager to learn more, in order to become better versions of themselves. Furthermore, they’re self-reliant and competent in themselves, and therefore seek to self-actualize by helping others. I read somewhere that being humble is not to think less of oneself, but to think of oneself less. Consequently, humility is not about being too passive and insecure, rather it’s about being confident in one’s own skin, knowing we’re all different, yet at the same time, somehow quite the same. ”Be humble enough to know that you’re not better than anyone else, but wise enough to know you’re different.” Below you’ll find some of the most common traits that might help you become a little more humble ❤ Be curious. Humble people usually have an inquiring mind, meaning they know there’s always something to learn, there’s always new insight and knowledge to gain. Learning is an ongoing …

Dear November…

… there’s no June without you. ”The silent hour of night, and my heart suddenly arise, caressing my awaken sight, while awaiting life, with blissful eyes.” Your days short, nights endless. Swimming in your darkness, facing our deepest fears. There’s no way escaping the twilight, but to invite it to dance. Pour your insecurities on us, cover our lives in darkness, but, you’ll never, ever destroy us. This November is all about harnessing the talents within. Cultivating curiosity, courage, confidence and creativity. Life is filled with opportunities. Trust. It’s about accepting and releasing emotions, negative thoughts. Reaching out to humans through loving kindness and warmhearted action. Striving for growth and progression. Connection and compassion. Speaking with integrity. Being impeccable with the words. There’s always a reason to choose happy. Keep it fresh and wild, darling soul child. In the beginning, even when your goals seem out of reach you’ll have to trust yourself. Trust that you have what it takes to get to where you want to be. In the end it’s only you who decide who you …

How to be more gentle with yourself

”Relax. My darling, unwind. Be patient and stay alert. You’re coming home. To yourself.” No one in this world is pure and perfect, not even Nature. If you avoid people for their shortcomings, you will most certainly be alone in this world. And if you’re constantly doubting yourself, and never take the time to actually embrace your accomplishments, you’re most certainly chasing a perfection that doesn’t even exist. Therefore, try to judge less, and love more. Surround yourself with people who understand. People who lift you up. We rise by lifting others. With this being said, below you’ll find some tips & tricks on how to recharge your soul. Your entire being. How to feel all sparkly, and good about yourself again, when you feel unmotivated and ready to crawl back to bed. Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, even you. ”Temporarily closed for spiritual maintenance.” I appreciate the calmness. I appreciate my books. I love spending time alone, getting to know myself on a deeper level. I love to soak …

The utmost freedom

”When humans stop running away from themselves, the world will become a kinder, more peaceful place.” At times freedom has little to do with the outside world, and circumstances. Man becomes free the moment he becomes free of thought. When he does not longer obsess over the constant chatter in his mind, but instead turns towards the heart. Freedom from compulsive thinking, desire, addiction, outside validation, constant approval. How does one become free of all that? I think one needs to stop. One needs to allow himself to slow down, to listen. When one is constantly bombarding himself with stimuli from outside sources it becomes nearly impossible to hear, or see anything. How is one able to listen to the whispers of the soul if one is continually caught up in the outside circus? How is it possible to become aware of the song of the heart when the sirens of the external environment is set on full volume? One does not typically feel comfortable sitting alone with one’s thoughts. To realise just how dysfunctional …
