Monday Inspiration

‘Darling, a beautiful thing is never perfect.’   I hope you have a lovely Monday, and a great beginning of the week. After a couple of days feeling unmotivated I now feel the inspiration slowly returning. You just have to find what makes you happy.  For me this means doing things that help me relax. Yoga is of course a great way to unwind but also reading books and inspiring articles, catching the sun, cooking, working out and travelling… (oh how I wish I could jump on a plane right now).   If you feel lost, or you lost your spark, ask yourself when you feel best in your life? What are you doing? Who are you with, and where are you? What do you value most in life? How would you like to feel?   This is not about striving for perfection, it’s about doing the best you can with what you have and with who you are. Appreciate the beautiful journey of life. Try not to focus too much on the destination. I …

Friday Feeling – Love

”I rather feel love than hate. It’s as simple, and complicated, as that.”   Love. The loveliest feeling of them all. Without love this world would be long gone. However, it needs more of it. Heaps of it. Don’t be afraid – sprinkle it everywhere. And remember, give some to yourself. My blog is a mess at the moment. However, my whole life is a mess! But I’m flowing with it. Accepting everything for what it is. Cause, sometimes that’s the only thing you can do. But anyhow, I’m changing things up here on the blog. An early spring cleaning. The reason for this; In February Health Food & Other Stories will be found on another platform. Yeah! Meaning this site (Things Close To My heart) will from now one only mirror my other big passions in life; writing, well-being and mindfulness. For those interested in healthy eating I’ll soon announce where I’ll start food blogging. So I apologise if the blog is a bit chaotic at the moment (chaotic is my new middle name..) …

Are you afraid?

I know I am. ”Fear does not stop death, it stops life.”   Magic doesn’t happen if you give up. You might want to. Give up. But keep in mind, the universe always falls in love with a stubborn soul. I once read that ”our fears reveal what we care about the most”. I believe there’s truth in that statement. The older I’ve become I’ve noticed that I’ve become more and more afraid. How come? That’s a question I don’t really have an answer to. It’s something that has creeped up on me slowly, but surely. And it’s like I’ve become aware of it all of a sudden. You took me by surprise, you nasty piece of sh*t feeling.   What should you do then, when you finally realize that fear has taken over?   Fear is not a bad thing, many times it actually helps us stay away from danger. However, fear becomes dangerous when it stops you from living the life you dream of. ”Fear is connected to the ego and the ego …

Friday Feeling – Self Care

”Please ask yourself daily; What would I do if I weren’t so bloody afraid? And then just do it.”   Take the utmost best care of yourself I’m introducing a new theme here on the blog – Friday Feeling. A positive feeling or mental habit that we could all benefit from by incorporating it into our daily lives. And what better way to kick it off than with the habit of SELF CARE. It doesn’t mean you’re selfish when you do things for yourself, or when you make time for the things that make you feel good about yourself. Self care helps you build trust within yourself. You don’t need another person to come and save you; you make yourself happy by being true to yourself and by living by your heart. When you feel good about yourself you automatically become a happier person. And that happy person will have plenty of love, kindness and energy to give to other people. You’re not the only one who will benefit from taking care of yourself, the people around …

Motivational Mantras

She possesses a peaceful confidence that screams power. She is humble, but fierce. She is stable, with a rebellious soul. She is loving, but far from naive. She chooses her struggles wisely, cause she always knew what she wanted. Dangerously intelligent she’s prepared to fight. And when that time comes;fight she does.   I haven’t yet written down any actual goals for 2018. At least not any clear and precise ones. But what I’ve done is that I’ve written down how I want to feel 2018. I think that is as important as setting goals; If you know how you want to feel when you travel through life the things you want, need and long for the most will come to you more effortlessly. Why do you want to achieve certain things? Why are they important to you? Is it just because you want to impress others, or do you want to impress yourself, improve yourself? I’ve written down 9 life mantras that I will strive to live by this year. I’ve already been …

Goodbye 2017

”The best view comes after the hardest climb.”   Every day you should learn something new. Every year you should grow. I’ve never considered New Years Eve like a time to start over, however, this year I see it as the most perfect day to leave everything that do not serve me behind, and believe that everything do happen for a reason. It’s not what happens to us that defines us, it’s our response to what happens. And response is something we can choose. Everything I’ve been through has made me who I am 2017 has been one of the toughest years ever, nevertheless, I feel I’ve grown tremendously. 2017 was the year I became more aware. I’ve learned to become more mindful, more present. And most importantly, I understand that I can always trust my intuition. I can trust myself, and all I’m capable of. I know I’m unique – we all are. I know I was meant to inspire other humans, I might not know exactly how, but I know that everything will eventually fall …

101 Lifetime Goals

”Goals have a finish line. Dreams never have to end.”   Don’t confuse your dreams with goals. Dreams are imaginary, goals produce tangible results. Goals usually have a deadline, either in the near future or several years from now. Dreams are simply dreams, if they aren’t turned into goals. Achieving a goal requires action, and you won’t reach them over night. They usually require hard work, focus and determination. However, if you want them bad enough you won’t give up on them. You shouldn’t give up on your dreams either, but remember that dreaming doesn’t take you anywhere. It’s important to have both short-term and long-term goals since it brings joy, purpose and meaning into your life. Begin by writing your goals down; it’s an excellent way to make them more specific, more tangible. You can introduce weekly goals, monthly goals, one year goals, five year goals etcetera. Write a list with several goals you’d like to achieve. Since some goals will take longer to achieve than others it’s good to include short-term goals that are somewhat …

Dear June…

…you’re my favourite month. ”You’ll turn out ordinary if you’re not careful.” June is for waking up early. For staying up late. The Midnight Sun screaming for attention. June is for restless nights. June is for magic. Young and green. June is for miracles. For feeling alive. June is for picnics and counting stars. June is for beauty in its purest form. June is a wild child, a summer child. Growing into the adolescence of autumn. June is for believing everything is possible.  June is a month when I feel most alive. I blame the sunlight, the long days and short nights. I sleep a lot during winter, but could stay up whole June. The nature – pure, fresh and clean. June might as well be cold and rainy, but it’s still June. It’s still magic. My deepest desire is to spend every waking moment underneath the Sun. Close to the Sea. Close to the Heart. ”To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong”   This June is all about balance, practicing …
