Why self-care is an inner journey

I matter I truly cherish a real glow-up day with my whole heart—morning meditation, mat Pilates, face massage, skincare routine, dry brushing, a shower, and finishing it all off by moisturising my entire body. Closer to a goddess I cannot become. This is me every morning. Some would call it high-maintenance; I call it important time with myself. This is simply an outer form of self-care, yet within its vanity there lies a deeper meaning: I matter. You see, it’s not so much what you do, but why you do it. Do you do it to get others to like you, or do you do it because you love yourself? A 10-step skin care routine won’t magically transform you to a self-loving individual who knows their worth. Without the inner form of self-care, the outer form stands worthless. But what is that inner form of self-care? How does it show up in your life? It’s sticking to your promises. It’s making time for your hobbies in a hectic schedule. It’s allowing yourself to simply be …

I am not from here

I love humans. I really do think they are rather amusing. But why so serious? Why so fearful of the unknown? Always complaining about being deprived, while deeply unaware they’re sitting on an enormous treasure chest. Being utmost beautiful, while screaming at their mirror, pointing out unnoticeable shortcomings. What do you know, you might ask. Yes, what do I actually know, not being from here. But you see, I live here. 40+ years I’ve been curiously interacting, more often observing, this strange earthly behaviour. There are so many questions arising in my chest. I seem to have lost the answers. Could I please ask you to help me find them? The other day I heard this intelligent and attractive woman complaining. It seemed that everything was wrong in her life, and she kept on blaming herself for every decision she’d made. Another man was yelling at his children to hurry up, they had somewhere important they had to be. – What is more important than where you are right now, I thought. And then there …

A gentle pause before fall

August. In-between weeks when summer slowly transforming into fall. She is certainly still lingering in the air, hot and humid. However, to the attentive ear, subtle whispers of fall can already be heard. Still, I want to savor every last drop of summer. I want to fully appreciate her, without thinking about fall or what’s ahead. I just want to be present, here and now, with summer, while she’s still by my side. We humans have a habit to live in the future, rather than truly appreciate where we are right now. Always striving forward, checking off to-do-lists, wanting more. Never fully satisfied with what is in front of the eye, right now. Where are you rushing? And then, suddenly, fall arrives – and I will be reminded of how I neglected summer. By then it’s too late. Too late for that evening swim, the strawberry ice cream dripping down my skirt, the bright golden mornings. There is till time to savor her; to soak in her beauty and the quiet magic of late summer …

The Power of Living from Wholeness

There comes a moment in life when you will stop entertaining the unnecessary ; the things, people, or experiences that once felt necessary for you to feel worthy. Instead, you’ll learn to come home to yourself. There’s no begging to be chosen. You choose yourself. And from that place of completeness, life begins to meet you differently. You are not chasing. You are attracting. There’s no room for unnecessary drama. You are in alignment, simply being. When you’re rooted in your own self-worth— not the “only if I achieve this or look like that” kind—but the deep knowing that you’re already enough—your entire energy changes. You speak differently. Exist differently.Work, love, create, and relate from a place of wholeness. How does this play out?In your relationships, you no longer over-give just to be kept. You no longer perform just to feel validated or desired. You honor your boundaries to keep your soul safe. You let your value speak through your energy and presence. You trust your own rhythm and timeline. You let inspiration find you instead …

Dear August…

… you make me feel alive. ”Darling, if you want to know love you must lose your fear of life.” The leaves shine bright in warm golden light. Utterly mesmerised by the whisper of the breeze; Be aware darling human, be aware, you’re shifting, like the softest, brittlest wind. Stay open, be alert, now, the perfect time for a rebirth. August is for faith. Love and compassion. Knowing one’s worth, and the ability to shine light in another person’s life. Taking care of the body, as well as the soul. Exploring new cities and friendships. It’s for constantly learning, constantly evolving. Small steps in the right direction. Appreciating every victory, every mistake. Blissful mornings. Dark, quiet evenings. Golden opportunities from dusk till dawn. The ability to inspire other human beings. Improving the quality of life. Challenging the body. Loving the body. Loving life. This August is all about being present in the here and now. It’s about finding humour in everyday life. Expecting, and enjoying the unexpected. Curiosity and creativity. Confidently chaotic. It’s about a life …

Soft habits to come back to yourself

At times, the outside world can make us feel a little uneasy, frustrated, or overwhelmed. Everywhere we turn, there’s noise, opinions and endless stimulation. There’s always something to react to, absorb, or be affected by—sometimes without us even realising it. And sure, all of this external input can be inspiring. It can spark ideas or fuel our creativity. But it can also become too much. There are moments when we don’t recognise the sound of our own voice, because it has been buried beneath the volume of everything coming from the outside. In those moments, it’s vital to take a step back and to reconnect with our own voice. To return to our own intuition. Most of the time, the answers we’re looking for aren’t out there—they’re within us. But to access that inner wisdom, we need space. We need peace. We need stillness. That’s where soft habits come in. These gentle, grounding rituals that can help us return to ourselves. Here are a few of my personal favorites—habits I come back to when I need to …

The present moment experience

”Honour the season your’re in.” The leaves dancing in the breath of wind, as the blue bird performing season’s final hymn. Until next year, dear humming creature, next year. The warm breeze caressing fragile skins. Breathing it all in, autumn laughing in the warm-hearted wind – I’ll carry your lyrics, wherever I go. Sing to me, little fella, sing to me.  This is the door to all that is. Celebrate the moment, and awaken to the magic unfolding.  The present moment; the only moment there is for us to be alive. Humans are very good at preparing to live, but not very good a living. Habitually dwelling in the past and dreaming of the future, while having difficulties concentrating the mind on the present moment. Wherever you are, you are home. Wherever you find yourself; whether you’re stuck in a rut, anxious, or simply lost in the fast spinning outside world – whatever the present moment contains – accept, then act. Always work with life, not against life. One way of controlling life is by becoming more …

How to make your days exciting

”There’s no time to be bored in a world as beautiful as this.” To seek out adventure doesn’t always equal travelling abroad to a far away country, jumping out of a plane or swimming with sharks. What if you could make every day a little bit more adventurous just by challenging your mindset, and changing up some of those mundane routines of yours? Below you’ll find a few mindsets and habits that hopefully can assist you in making your every day life a bit more exciting and joyful. Explore your neighbourhood. Usually it’s the places we are the most exposed to, that we take for granted or fail to appreciate. Have you, in the past few days, taken the time to literally stop and look around? Next time you take a walk in your neighbourhood – leave your phone at home and gaze at the buildings, the surroundings, the people walking by. You might discover a new coffee shop, an antique shop you haven’t yet visited, or simply enjoy the beautiful architecture. Take a course. …

Dear May…

… you come bearing opportunities. ”…give me a winter to wake up, and deserve you.” As I find myself moving with the universe, a sense of peace floating through my veins. The sun, caressing my heart, the moon, my entire being.  Dear nature, dear moment, you feed me hope. You feed me laughter. And when I finally opened my eyes, I noticed, how you so effortlessly transformed into a beautiful work of art.  This May, all about honest expressions. Living with integrity, boldness and compassion. The words you speak become the house you live in. Now is the time to trust. Trust yourself. Trust your voice. Love you.  Stay open to how the sky, at night, changing its colors, hour by hour. May is for magical, heart-warming evenings. Nature, and humans, reborn. Wherever life plants you, flourish with grace. Explore the unseen, take chances. Be brave. It’s time to press play. Believe in the magic of being. Human being. Love you.  It’s about seeking answers. Gaining wisdom. Isn’t that why being a child is so …

Surrender

”When you think you’ve surrendered, surrender even more.” I take a step back and let the universe show me the way. I trust that the guidance I need will come to me. Or as Eckhart Tolle so neatly puts it: ”Sometimes surrender means giving up from trying to understand, and becoming comfortable with not knowing.” Life is about finding the balance between what we can control, and what we cannot. Sometimes surrendering is the breakthrough we need. During my morning yoga the teacher I was following said something that had me remember something deeply important. I was in this slightly uncomforable frog positon (uncomfortable at least to me). The teacher said that whenever we’re in a position that feels difficult and challenging it’s very common to hold our breaths and try to combat the struggle, and therefore resist the growth that comes along. The thing we instead should strive towards in that moment is to take even deeper breaths, and allow our bodies to let go. Whether you’re in an uncomfortable yoga position or going through …
