”Allow the noise to dissolve, and let there be space for what truly brings you joy.”
When life is not flowing in the direction you like, it might seem that everything around you is falling apart. It’s easy to slip into a spiral of negative thinking; comparing yourself to others and fixating only on what’s lacking in your life. This mindset of self-victimization doesn’t serve you; in fact, it will only make you feel worse and do nothing to improve your circumstances.
But why is it so easy to fall into this negative headspace? Maybe it’s our brain’s way of shielding us from disappointment, or maybe it’s just a sign – a wake-up call – urging us to become aware and recognise that it’s time to change course.
Whatever you’re facing right now, know that it’s simply a phase. But it’s a phase that deserves your attention, not your neglect. Instead, turn inwards and ask yourself – What is this feeling trying to teach me? Is there something I can do to make myself feel better? Is there something I need to unlearn?
There comes a point in life when you’ve simply had enough—enough of your own self-sabotage. What once may have been a habit has lingered for far too long, and now it’s ready to be let go.
You see, everything is a choice. You can choose to be miserable, or you can choose to be content. Yes, there will always be things missing from your life, there will always be someone that is more successful, more liked than you. But why choose to focus on that? Why not focus on building yourself up? Why not focus on becoming the best you that you can be. This doesn’t mean you need to be perfect. Perfection is dull, rather, embrace being yourself.
Maybe it requires you to take a break from the external world for a while. Allow the noise to dissolve, and let there be space for what truly brings you joy. At times we just act out of mere habit, not aware of the daily choices we make. Give yourself permission to be still. Take the time to truly listen to your own voice. What does it whisper? Notice the signs. Synchronicities. Remember, the universe is here to guide you, not to punish you.
So, don’t be hard on yourself for not being exactly where you expected to be by right now. Feeling “behind” is one of the most universal experiences—especially today, when we’re constantly bombarded by social media. But don’t forget that your life is unique; we all experience our own timelines. You should never have to force an outcome, instead, become more open and attentive to what’s already in your life.
Of course, it’s okay to feel dissatisfied with your life if that’s what you’re experiencing. Don’t ignore that feeling—it’s trying to tell you something. But don’t waste your energy on complaining; use it to evolve and move beyond your current limiting beliefs.
When you find yourself in this phase, take small steps to nurture yourself and regain clarity. It might feel tempting to distract yourself; you’ll do almost anything to avoid facing the pain. But know that is only a temporarily fix, not a lasting cure. Don’t be afraid to sit with yourself and your feelings. They are merely feelings; they can’t harm you. Instead, let them teach you who you are beneath all the noise. Let them teach you how to come home to yourself.
- Spend time in nature, move your body, or write down or record your thoughts to better understand them.
- Practise moments of stillness and mindfulness, even for just a few minutes a day, and let yourself reconnect with what truly brings you joy.
- Surround yourself with people who uplifts and inspire you, and don’t hesitate to seek support when needed.
Remember, don’t treat this period as a setback, rather, use it as an opportunity to realign with your values, release old patterns not serving you, and step forward with intention. Practise patience and compassion with yourself, and focus on the small choices that will help you grow.
This is not a race, and you are not behind. You are exactly where and who you need to be to learn, evolve, and become the best version of yourself.
With these words I wish you a nice Friday and weekend ahead! Until next time; take care!
