Don’t rush life

”Why are we in such a hurry to get through our lives?

I believe we can learn a lot from nature. While dancing through seasons, she does not rush. Taking her time- to unwind, to unfold, to let go and to transform. Allowing herself to bloom. Month after month. Year after year. Going through phases fully present, fully alive. Fully confident in her transparency and vulnerability. Wise enough to know, that letting go doesn’t necessarily mean being deprived of, but creating space, creating opportunity. She has her end-goals and dreams, however, at the same time she acknowledges the process and the in-betweens. The tranquility of being. Being winter when she’s winter, summer when she’s summer.

Why are we rushing? And to where are we rushing? Are we rushing to get a degree, to get a job, to find a partner, to buy a house, to have kids, to then all of a sudden realise is this it? Is this what life is all about? Wasn’t all this supposed to make me feel happy, fulfilled, and at peace? All these years, rushing towards obtaining things and status, just to gain the knowledge that it doesn’t take a fancy diploma, in order to feel intelligent and worthy, or a well-paid job and the perfect partner, in order to feel safe, secure and like ”I’ve finally made it”. All it takes is you. Right here, right now. It simply requires your presence.

In order to fully enjoy life you need to start to fully enjoy yourself, to fully enjoy your own being, with or without these external things. And while all these external things are wonderful, they are, and will never be, the root to our happiness. To find the love of your life is truly amazing, it is. To find your dream job, and to be able to enjoy it every day is absolutely incredible, it is. Nevertheless, in order to be able to cherish, and savor all these wonderful experiences we first need to be absolutely content and satisfied within ourselves, with where we are in this present moment. We need to understand that, although these external rewards are magnificent, we should never let them make us feel more than, when we achieve them, and not less than, when we don’t yet have them.

”Enjoying life. Being present, fully alive.”

It’s nothing wrong with wanting to achieve goals, and wanting to accomplish certain things in life. Not at all. As a matter of fact, it makes life worth living; having something to strive towards, something that makes you want to jump out of bed each morning. But remember, it’s easy to feel a sense of fulfilment after achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself, nevertheless, to feel a sense of peace and contentment while simply being, while simply enjoying life for what it is, in this moment, is something that a lot of us is struggling with.

We live in a society where success is measured in how much we have achieved, how much money we have in our account, how many followers we have, if we’re married or not, how we look, and how we act. Nonetheless, success contains much more. The way ”society” measures success is simply a tiny fraction of what it truly is. You are an unlimited human being. You have unlimited potential. Don’t let society define what success means to you. Think. For. Yourself.

To be able to embrace all aspects of life, however insignificant they might seem is the essence of life. It’s life in its most honest form; fully enjoying life while experiencing life. If you can’t even enjoy having morning coffee all by yourself, how do you expect to be able to fully enjoy having morning coffee with your family? In order to enjoy the grander things in life, we must learn to enjoy the more ordinary moments as well.

Don’t rush through these moments, cause within their insignificance lie a more subtle meaning. To fill the most ordinary day with joy and bliss is within your reach each and every day. Take a glimpse within, and know, while there’s no need to rush through life, there’s a tremendous need to start appreciating life. To start treating it with love and care. Breath after breath.
